Chengzi Cliff is situated on the eastern mountain of Xingdao Village, thirty li north of the county seat. There is a huge stone niche halfway up the hillside, 45 metres wide and three to four metres deep. A temple compound once stood inside the niche, known as Fengle Temple, which was built in the Eastern Wei Dynasty. Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi, the celebrated Neo-Confucian scholars of the Northern Song Dynasty, once delivered lectures here, hence the place was renamed Chengzi Cliff.

Beneath the cliff lies the source of the Longhua River. Splashing currents form ripples and deep pools. The water never freezes even in the depths of winter, with grass remaining green as in spring. Green trees set off the red cliffs, forming a beautiful scenic view called "Warm Grass by Dragon Pool", one of the most famous scenic spots in Yu County.
