Chengzi Cliff is situated on the eastern mountain of Xingdao Village, thirty li north of the county seat.
There is a huge stone niche halfway up the hillside, 45 metres wide and three to four metres deep.
A temple compound once stood inside the niche, known as Fengle Temple, which was built in the Eastern Wei Dynasty.
Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi, the celebrated Neo-Confucian scholars of the Northern Song Dynasty, once delivered lectures here, hence the place was renamed Chengzi Cliff.
