Scroll of Mountains and Rivers
Ten-Mile Gallery
Located in the central part of Wulingyuan Core Scenic Area, Ten-Mile Gallery stretches ten li for a round trip. Thousands of towering peaks line both sides of the gorge, covered in lush forests filled with the fragrance of wild blossoms. Grotesque peaks and exotic rock formations in countless varied shapes form a gigantic landscape scroll hanging side by side upon towering sheer cliffs. The matchlessly exquisite natural wonders blend seamlessly into ink wash paintings crafted by immortal masters. Visitors wandering along the trail encounter a new view every three steps, as if roaming inside a masterpiece of painting — hence its well-earned name "Ten-Mile Gallery".
Abundant natural landscapes unfold along both sides of this over-ten-li-long valley, making every stroll feel like wandering through a painting. Dark green peaks stand in rows beside the gully. More than 200 stone sculptures shaped like humans, objects, birds and beasts are carved naturally into the mountain rocks. The most renowned formations include Peacock Spreading Its Tail, Old Herbalist Gathering Herbs, God of Longevity Greeting Guests, and Fierce Tiger Roaring Toward the Sky.
