It would be a real pity to visit Wudang Mountain without tasting authentic Taoist vegetarian feasts.
The ingredients of Wudang Taoist vegetarian food are mostly wild plants and fruits growing on the mountains, nourished by rotten branches and fallen leaves as well as natural organic fertilizers.
Typical ingredients include salted dried bamboo shoots, deer-tail bamboo shoots, Chinese herbaceous peonies, frozen tofu, walnuts, chestnuts, kiwifruit, wood ears, shiitake mushrooms and sealwort.
Only vegetable oil is used for cooking. The meals fully embody the Taoist philosophy: "Tao follows nature, and humanity returns to simplicity".
