Fishing Spots Around Baoding

Luban Reservoir, a provincial-level scenic area in Sichuan Province, is the best lake for angling around Baoding. The lake covers a total water surface area of 13 square kilometers and features an exclusive private club built on a uniquely shaped, charming peninsula. The reservoir boasts pristine water quality, attracting numerous anglers every year.

The prime fishing season runs roughly from May to October. The lake is stocked with silver bighead carp, catfish, crucian carp and other fish species. The fishing fees are reasonably priced, suitable for ordinary visitors.

Dongfanghong Reservoir is an outstanding fishing spot near Baoding. Located next to Yubei Vocational College of Industry, it sits downstream of Guanyin Cave and is the closest natural angling venue to the downtown area. The reservoir was built by the local government through damming for regional power generation. Water levels fluctuate drastically due to power production operations. Anglers can expect great catches when the water level stabilizes.

Crucian carp dominates the fish stock here, while grass carp are scarce but grow to large sizes. The fishing charge is very affordable at 20 RMB per person per day.

Beigongdang is the most well-loved angling location near Baoding, close to North Chayuan Road, Xiuzhou District, Jiaxing City. It was originally an enclosed lake fish farm before being renovated into an urban wetland by the local government. All local farm households have been relocated, and most large fish were previously fished out. Only leftover escaped fish and naturally propagated fish remain in the water.

Nevertheless, the water quality stays decent, yielding fresh, tender fish flesh. Fishing here is completely free of charge.
