Guojiadong Rock Paintings

The rock paintings are located 1 kilometre northeast of Luofan Village, Yanjia Town. Dating back from the Han Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty, they are listed as a Provincial Cultural Relic Protection Unit.

The paintings are painted on the cliff at the entrance of the natural karst cave Guojiadong, 2.5 metres above the ground. The painted area is 1.0 metre high and 1.1 metres wide, consisting of four ochre-painted patterns. The largest pattern measures 1.1 metres in both height and width, and its meaning remains undeciphered. The other three groups are symbol-like figures.

According to textual research by Mr. Shi Shuqing, Deputy Director of the National Cultural Relics Appraisal Committee, these are "cinnabar-painted symbolic characters", dating back 1,000 to 2,000 years from the present.
