Yanjia Buyi Cultural Customs Park, Ceheng County

This composite scenic area covers the Ancient Banyan Tree Scenic Zone, Yanjia New Village, and the adjacent part of Nafu New District, with a planned area of 479.23 hectares.

Yanjia New Village sits on the bank of the North Panjiang River and boasts outstanding waterscape resources. The 74-kilometre Zhelou River runs through the core zone of the scenic area and crosses the county seat, with picturesque riverbank views. The area features profound Buyi cultural heritage and unique folk customs, as well as mesmerizing natural scenery. The picturesque subtropical riverside landscapes and natural peninsula surrounded by water on all sides endow the Yanjia Buyi Cultural Customs Park with excellent development conditions and promising market prospects.

Nafu New Tourism Development Zone lies roughly 1 kilometre west of Ceheng County seat. It serves as a centralized tourism cluster integrating three functional zones. Buildings are designed with distinctive Buyi ethnic styles. Centered on tourism development, it has grown into a characteristic tourist hub combining eco-tourism, leisure and entertainment, eco-friendly projects, commerce, shopping and residential accommodation.

The Ancient Banyan Tree Cluster in Pingzhai is located in the northwest of the county seat, 1 kilometre away from Nafu New Tourism Development Zone. It is the most outstanding section among the three connected zones. The scenic area contains more than 4,000 mu of secondary virgin forest. The woods are lush green in spring and summer, and tinted red and yellow in autumn and winter, forming a natural primitive oxygen bar. Dozens of wild species live here, including macaques, wild boars and various birds. The highlight is the contiguous ancient banyan tree grove with over 60 trees aged more than one thousand years, a rare sight worldwide. Scattered Buyi dwellings surround the banyan cluster. Tourists can watch local craftsmen weave traditional Buyi homespun cloth and make ethnic costumes, and trace history along the ancient post road. It is a top-tier scenic spot combining natural and cultural attractions.

Yanjia Buyi Cultural Customs Park was one of the key construction projects for the 6th Guizhou Tourism Industry Development Conference. It was listed as a rural tourism poverty alleviation project in 2012, and designated as one of Guizhou’s 100 key scenic areas in 2013.
