Cultural and Human Landscapes of Suizhong County

The standard of tourism infrastructure determines the development level of tourism in a region. In recent years, the county Party committee and county government have invested substantial human and material resources to upgrade tourist roads leading to scenic spots and supporting tourism infrastructure.

A total of 7 billion yuan has been injected into infrastructure construction in the new district, delivering complete "seven supplies and land leveling" across the 26-square-kilometer high-tech industrial park and cultural tourism industrial park. Nearly 100 million yuan has been invested in the Yong’an Great Wall Scenic Area for underground water interception works on the Shihe River, alongside the construction of tourist roads, a scenic main gate, a tourist service center, an ecological parking lot, mountain hiking trails, flush public restrooms and other tourism facilities.

Over recent years, more than 100 kilometers of tourist roads have been built, covering 42,000 square meters of ecological parking lots and 12,400 linear meters of mountain climbing trails. River regulation projects span 3,000 linear meters. The total construction area of scenic main gates, tourist service centers, management offices and similar buildings reaches 2,200 square meters, with six flush restrooms completed.

To guarantee the smooth construction and opening to the public of all settled projects, we have ramped up investment in both hardware and soft infrastructure. First, we upgraded tourism hardware to deliver more human-centered services in scenic areas. Priority was given to improving public service facilities in A-level and key scenic spots, including medical and health stations, signage systems, flush restrooms and parking lots.

Last year, the county built 15 new tourist restrooms and renovated 3 existing ones. Six of these restrooms were certified as national A-grade tourist toilets — 3 Grade A and 3 Grade AA — with all corresponding subsidy funds fully disbursed. Five parking lots of varying sizes covering a combined 20,000 square meters were finished. Five tourist traffic directional signs and nearly 100 tourist maps and scenic markers were installed.
