Huaisi Site is located in Huaisi Village, Fucaolou Township, 22 kilometers southeast of Taikang County seat. It was designated a Municipal-level Cultural Relic Protection Unit by the People’s Government of Zhoukou City in 2006.
The site sits on a high ground, stretching 152 meters from north to south and 146 meters from east to west, covering an area of approximately 22,200 square meters. The cultural layer in the eastern part of the site is 1.5 meters thick, while those in the central and western sections reach over 9 meters in depth.
The Luoyang Archaeological Team of the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences has conducted surveys at Huaisi Site. More than ten burnt clay house floors and over ten ash pits were uncovered on the cliff section in the western part of the site. A large number of pottery shards scatter across the ground, mostly decorated with cord patterns, followed by grid patterns. Stone, bone and shell artifacts were also unearthed here. Judging by the features of the relics, archaeologists have confirmed that Huaisi Site is dominated by Longshan Cultural remains, with a small number of relics from the Dawenkou, Shang and Zhou cultures.
