Liuzhuang Site
Liuzhuang Site, commonly known as Niuwang Mound, is located 300 meters south of Liuzhuang Village, Zhangji Township, 20 kilometers southeast of Taikang County seat. It was designated a Municipal-level Cultural Relic Protection Unit by the People’s Government of Zhoukou City in 2006.
Liuzhuang Site is a sloped earthen mound with its highest point reaching approximately 6 meters, covering an area of 10,000 square meters. The site contains cultural remains of the Longshan Culture as well as the Shang and Zhou dynasties.
Pottery shards of the Longshan Culture are dominated by fine grey clay pottery, followed by sandy grey clay pottery, with very few fine red clay pottery pieces. The main decorative pattern is grid pattern, alongside cord pattern, string pattern and plain polished surfaces.
Five bronze artifacts dating back to the Shang Dynasty were unearthed at the southeastern end of the site, including a jue wine vessel, a gu goblet, a you wine jar and a ge dagger-axe.
