This inscription is carved on the natural rock face known as Pianyan in Longpan Village, Yushan Town, Weng'an County. The cliff is 40 metres high and 90 metres wide.
Facing west with its front to the east, the carving was originally 2 metres above the ground and is now level with the ground surface.
It is an upright rectangular tablet, 1.36 metres tall and 1.1 metres wide. The vertical regular characters were carved in intaglio, arranged in 15 lines with 29 characters per full line, totalling 280 characters.
The text records the following event:
"In the fourth year of the Jingtai reign of the Ming Dynasty, the Emperor ordered Jiang Lin, Vice Censor-in-Chief of the Censorate, and Fang Ying, Left Military Governor, to lead troops to attack and suppress the bandits Huang Long, Wei Bao and their followers in Zhongze, Shenxi, Diping and other stockaded villages under the jurisdiction of the Pacification Commissioner’s Office of Bozhou in Sichuan Province. All the bandit strongholds were captured by government troops. The captured bandits were sent to the imperial court, convicted publicly, and executed by beheading and dismemberment. The bandits’ family members and accomplices were first put to death by lingchi, and all their property and houses were completely confiscated and destroyed."
The inscription was carved on the twenty-fifth day of the twelfth lunar month in the fourth year of the Jingtai reign.
This cliff carving reflects the historical fact that feudal rulers brutally suppressed peasant uprisings, and it bears important historical value.
