Shiguliao Scenic Area features green mountains, clear waters, exotic rock formations and fantastic peaks, complemented by idyllic pastoral scenery. Covering nearly 5 square kilometres, it boasts caves, streams, springs and rocks of all kinds. Towering jagged stone mountains and sheer Danxia cliffs create a breathtaking grand view.
Among its cultural landmarks are Deqing Temple and Reclining Buddha Temple. Both temples are built within natural grottoes, using overhanging rock faces as natural roofs without any wooden rafters or tiles, forming a unique temple architectural style.
In 2002, Zhang Jizhong shot the hit TV drama Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils with Shiguliao as its outdoor shooting location. Afterwards, nearly 700 Chinese and foreign film crews flocked here, including those for Stories to Caution the World, The Prince of Han Dynasty, The Emperor in Han Dynasty, New Shaolin Temple, Finnish production Jade Warrior, South Korean film The Restless, and Canadian work The Little Dragon Boy Danbi. Superstars such as Jackie Chan, Liu Xiaoqing, Andy Lau, Nicholas Tse, Fan Bingbing, and South Korean actress Choo Ja-hyun have portrayed countless tales of martial arts feuds, love and hatred here.
Once filled with scenes of sword fights and gathering celebrities, Shiguliao Film & Television City has become another influential filming base in Zhejiang Province, second only to Hengdian.
