Xixi Film and Television Base
Over the past year of constructing the film and television town in Xixi, Yongkang, an investment of over 100 million yuan has been poured into upgrading the film base and supporting facilities. Fifteen outdoor shooting sets including a Qin-Han military camp, trench battlefields and Republic of China-style blocks, as well as two indoor photography studios have been built to meet the shooting demands of various crews.
Centered around Sikou Village, Xixi has initially formed a film shooting complex covering more than ten surrounding villages. It has attracted over 100 production crews for location shooting, with more than 5,000 people directly employed in the film and television tourism industry. The site has received 400,000 tourists, driving consumption of over 10 million yuan. An integrated industrial model of "film and television plus tourism" has gradually taken shape.
The booming film industry has boosted the development of Beautiful Villages and lifted villagers’ incomes. Labor costs for scenic spot construction alone in Sikou Village exceeded one million yuan, raising local residents’ wage earnings. Tours to Xixi Film and Television Base have become a popular weekend getaway for many Yongkang citizens. The site sees 3,000 to 5,000 visitors on non-holiday days, while daily visitor volume tops 10,000 during holidays, generating extra operating income for villagers.
The film industry has also put the small town of Xixi on the national map. Numerous celebrities have come here to film, such as Hu Jun, Benny Chan, He Shengming, Nicky Wu, Yuen Wah, Shu Chang, Joe Chen, Zhao Liying and Wong Cho-lam. Hit TV dramas shot on location here include Guerrilla Hero, Blade Hunting, Just Wanna Love You, Hua Xu Yin and The Legend of Qin. Statistics show that since July 2014, the base has hosted more than 100 film crews, with a maximum of five crews shooting simultaneously on a single day.
A rising filming base in recent years, Xixi actively taps into the industrial spillover effects from Hengdian World Studios. Leveraging its natural advantages for outdoor location shooting, it has developed over ten film-themed villages and facilities capable of accommodating more than 20 crews at the same time, directly boosting villagers’ total income by over 50 million yuan.
