Baxian Terrace Scenic Area is a national 2A-level tourist attraction. It lies in the southwest of Mudian Township, Xuyi County, just 10 kilometers away from the Nanjing-Lianyungang Class I Highway, with the former Nanjing-Xuzhou Highway running through its territory, enjoying highly convenient transportation.
Covering over ten thousand mu, the scenic area boasts a picturesque landscape integrating mountains, waters, islets, forests, rocks, springs, caves and cultural relics. Thanks to diverse species, fresh air and legendary tales of the Eight Immortals, it feels like an earthly paradise where people can embrace nature.
The area abounds in wild resources, home to more than 500 plant species, over 180 kinds of Chinese herbal medicines, over 60 wild animal species and more than 100 bird species. Among them are elegant egrets, precious ganoderma lucidum and rare hydrangeas.
Mountains, waters, islets, woods, rocks, springs and caves blend harmoniously here. Formed by basalt landforms, the mountains feature flat summits, steep slopes and secluded valleys. Crystal-clear rivers wind across the whole area, together with gurgling mountain springs and streams, creating a fairyland where waters surround mountains and islets dot the waters.
Dense forests and green bamboo groves set each other off like a vast green ocean. Exotic natural rocks take on various vivid shapes resembling the Eight Immortals, forming profound cultural landscapes rooted in traditional Chinese culture.
