Char Lake Scenic Resort

Char Lake, a national 4A-level scenic area, is located at Yamenhao, Chengguan Town, Xinghe County, Ulanqab City. It is 230 kilometers away from Beijing and 80 kilometers from Jining District. Nestled in the spur of the Daqing Mountains, the lake water surface is encircled by rolling mountain ranges.

The resort features a temperate continental monsoon humid climate with four distinct seasons and abundant sunlight and heat. The scenic area boasts rolling, continuous mountain peaks, picturesque green hills and clear waters. Boasting lush emerald mountains and gentle rippling waters, it is a leisure and vacation destination integrating agricultural sightseeing, water entertainment, mountain climbing and outward bound training, equestrian courses, cruise and speedboat rides, RV camps, ice and snow skating & skiing, low-altitude flight experiences, new energy experience programs, hunting and shooting ranges, as well as summer camps for children.

Also known as Youyi Reservoir, Char Lake belongs to the Yongding River system of the Haihe River Basin and sits on the upper reaches of the East Yang River, a tributary of the Yang River. The reservoir’s maximum catchment area reaches 2,250 square kilometers, with a maximum water surface area of 7.7 square kilometers, accounting for 67.6% of the East Yang River’s total basin area. Its total storage capacity stands at 116 million cubic meters, with an average water depth ranging from 6 to 9 meters.

The total area of the tourist resort covers 4,400 hectares (66,000 mu), including a total land area of approximately 506 hectares (7,590 mu), 33.3 hectares (500 mu) of newly added construction land, 666 hectares (10,000 mu) of water area and 440 hectares (6,600 mu) of forest land.

The resort abounds with wild animals, wild plants, wild medicinal herbs, mountain wild vegetables and edible fungi. Aquatic flora and fauna thrive here with abundant forage resources. Farmed fish varieties include common carp, silver carp, Wuchang bream, grass carp, crucian carp and osmerus. These fish feature tender flesh and delicious flavor, serving as premium pollution-free green delicacies.

Crops cultivated in the eco-tourism resort include wheat, naked oats, buckwheat, corn, broomcorn millet, beans and potatoes. Organic vegetables are grown with organic fertilizers and biological pesticides for pest control, producing pure natural, pollution-free and hazard-free green food.
