Tonggu Memorial Museum of the Autumn Harvest Uprising

The Tonggu Memorial Museum of the Autumn Harvest Uprising was completed and opened to the public in August 1977. Its inscribed name was written by Comrade Song Renqiong, a founding father of the People’s Republic of China.
The museum is located at No. 489 East Dingjiang Road, Tonggu County, right next to the Former Site of the Front Enemy Committee of the Autumn Harvest Uprising on the Hunan-Jiangxi Border (Regimental Headquarters of the 3rd Regiment, 1st Division, 1st Workers’ and Peasants’ Revolutionary Army) — the Xiao Yongweng Ancestral Hall.
The Tonggu County Museum was established in December 1994. The two institutions share the same office and staffing.
The museum covers a total land area of 5,000 square metres, with a construction area of 4,400 square metres and an exhibition area of 2,200 square metres. The total length of exhibition routes reaches 130 metres. It is a three-storey brick-concrete building.
In 2007, the People’s Government of Tonggu County invested more than 3 million yuan to renovate the interior exhibitions and repair the exterior building. The museum reopened on September 11 under the administration of the Tonggu County Bureau of Culture.
