Yimeng Red Film and TV Shooting Base of Shandong

Located in Changshanzhuang Village, Mamuchi Township, Yinan County, the base covers an area of 2,000 mu. It is a National AAAA-level comprehensive leisure and tourist resort integrating red tourism, ecological wellness, film and television shooting, red education experience, catering, entertainment and other functions. It consists of five major sections: the Ancient Mountain Village, Yizhou City, Patriotism Education Base, Mountain Dream Workshop and Yimeng Red Sketching Base.
The total investment has exceeded 600 million yuan. The Phase I project cost 40 million yuan, covering the protective renovation of the Ancient Mountain Village, as well as the new construction, reconstruction and restoration of red-film-specific shooting scenes including blockhouses, opera stages, ancient roadways, city gates, enclosing walls, ancient temples and courtyard complexes.
In 2011, three memorial halls were built here: the China Red Sisters-in-Law Revolutionary Memorial Hall, the Generals Hall of the People’s Army, and the Follow the Communist Party of China Memorial Hall. Adopting authentic rustic farm courtyards, large group sculptures and exhibition boards, they reproduce the heroic stories of the Chinese people’s resistance against Japanese aggression under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
The vivid scenes on display depict touching real-life episodes: red sisters-in-law feeding wounded soldiers with breast milk, Yimeng mothers raising revolutionary orphans, Li Guifang, a Yimeng village woman, leading local women to build a "frontline human bridge" with their bodies, thousands of wooden carts transporting supplies southward, village women sewing military shoes, grinding army rations, baking pancakes, mending military uniforms, sending their husbands and sons to the frontlines, wartime nurseries and underground kindergartens. The exhibits profoundly recount the feats of the generals and soldiers who fought in the Yimeng Mountains.
The Phase II Yizhou City complex features teahouses, police stations, government yamen, quadrangle courtyards, handicraft workshops, poor people’s dwellings, as well as Western-style small villas, meeting diverse shooting demands of various film and television crews. At present, the North Gate of the ancient county, interior buildings inside the yamen, and the Educated Youth Street have all been put into operation.
To enrich tourism offerings, the base invested over 80 million yuan to build a sketching base integrating accommodation and catering. The Film and TV Base Service Center, with an investment of 76 million yuan, was officially put into use on August 1, 2014.
While continuing construction, the scenic area has been receiving film and television crews all year round. More than 100 films and TV dramas have been shot here, including the TV series Yimeng, Six Sisters of Yimeng and Red Sorghum, earning it the reputation of "Hollywood in the Mountain Village".
The base has been certified as a National AAAA-level Tourist Attraction and honored as "A New Landmark of Chinese Cultural Tourism" in 2013.
Changshanzhuang Village, where the base sits, was listed as one of China’s Third Batch of Traditional Villages in November 2014.
The scenic area has directly provided jobs for more than 210 local villagers. The per capita annual income of villagers rose from 5,200 yuan in 2009 to 22,630 yuan in 2014. In 2014, the scenic area achieved a tourism revenue of over 29 million yuan.
