Zhuquan Village is located in the northern part of Yinan County, Shandong Province, 12 kilometers away from the county seat. It was known as Shangzhuang by the Spring during the Yuan and Ming dynasties, and renamed Zhuquan Village in the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty. Here, springs emerge from the foothills, and bamboo thrives nourished by the springs. Villagers dwell around the springs, build stone houses, and make a living through farming. Bamboo groves conceal thatched cottages, every household faces clear running streams, and the countryside is filled with the fragrance of fruits and melons. Residents live long, happy lives, making it a rare idyllic utopian settlement in northern China as well as a treasured traditional feng shui land.
Relying on the ancient bamboo-and-spring village, Zhuquan Village Tourist Resort was invested and developed with 156 million yuan by Qingdao Longteng Group of Shandong Province, and surveyed and designed by Shandong Tourism Planning & Design Institute. Covering an area of 800 mu, it is an all-round tourist resort integrating ecological sightseeing, leisure vacation, catering and entertainment, conference and outward bound training.
Zhuquan Village Tourist Resort is the first systematically developed ancient village scenic spot in Shandong Province. Its overall positioning leverages the ecological and folk cultural resources of ancient Yimeng villages, featuring the distinctive elements of "bamboo, springs and villages". It aims to build a comprehensive northern Yimeng mountain tourist destination with prominent Yimeng characteristics, unique spring-town charm, bamboo forest landscapes and rural farmhouse vibes, integrating sightseeing, vacation and leisure functions.
Zhuquan Village boasts a long history. Over hundreds of years, tangible cultural heritage including ancient architectures, streets, old and famous trees, as well as intangible cultural heritage with distinctive local features such as historical legends, folk customs and traditional handicrafts have accumulated here, forming the village’s unique cultural resources. Based on functional demands, the village layout underwent overall planning and renovation. The renovated Zhuquan Village retains the primitive rustic features of Yimeng mountain villages while equipped with brand-new tourism functions and richer cultural connotations.
Construction of the scenic area started in May 2008, trial operation began on July 12, 2009, and official opening was launched during the National Day Golden Week. Its landscape layout follows a structural pattern of "one cultural main axis, six functional zones, three main streets, six alleyways and twelve core landscape nodes".
At present, the scenic area can receive 12,000 tourists per day with complete supporting services:
The catering department includes a business clubhouse, characteristic restaurants and various farmhouses, capable of seating 500 diners simultaneously;
The accommodation department offers more than 80 sets of distinctive ecological rooms and standard twin rooms, totaling nearly 300 beds;
The conference department provides small, medium and large conference halls to host events for 20 to 150 attendees.
The resort organically integrates bamboo-spring landscapes, Yimeng folk customs and natural ecology, pioneering an innovative new model of leisure tourism. Many senior leaders including Jiang Daming, Deputy Secretary of Shandong Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Shandong, Li Qun, Secretary of Qingdao Municipal Party Committee and former Director of the Publicity Department of Shandong Provincial Party Committee, and Yu Chong, Director of Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, have inspected the scenic area on multiple occasions, speaking highly of its planning, construction and development model.
The resort has formed remarkable brand influence and received numerous honors:
In May 2009, designated as the sole demonstration site of Shandong’s "Leisurely Shandong" tourism campaign by Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism;
In January 2010, awarded one of Shandong’s first batch of "Self-Driving Tourism Demonstration Sites" by the Self-Driving Tourism Branch of Shandong Tourism Industry Association;
