King Ginkgo of the South of the Yangtze River

This ancient ginkgo tree is hailed as the King Ginkgo of the South of the Yangtze River. It is more than 1,700 years old, standing over 40 metres tall with a trunk circumference of 9 metres. During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the Southward Advance Detachment of the New Fourth Army built an arsenal and a field hospital right here. Soldiers gathered, rested and received medical treatment beneath this tree.
