Scenic Spot Introduction
Volcano Island, locally known as Liudun Island, consists of six connected islets.
According to legend, a young dragon once fell in love with a celestial maiden in heaven. It frequently flew up to meet her and violated heavenly rules. Enraged, the Jade Emperor chased the dragon to this place and cut it into six segments, which turned into the six islets. It is said that the maiden often came here to pay homage to the dragon, blessing the island with a trace of celestial charm.
Endowed with exceptional natural conditions, Volcano Island is surrounded by clear sapphire seawater and lined with soft fine sandy beaches. The rocks formed by volcanic activity half a million years ago have developed unique textures after years of erosion by seawater.
The shore echoes with birdsong, and the island is a permanent habitat for egrets. Lush tropical vegetation covers the island, together with many rare wild tropical fruits, making it a genuine volcanic island.
The rafts for oyster aquaculture floating on the sea and the oyster farms spread across the tidal flats form a spectacular view. In the calm bay, blue waves gently rock thousands of mu of oyster rafts. White seagulls skim over the water, while fishing boats loaded with catches sail slowly back to the harbour.
Fisherman’s homestay tourism is a highlight of Volcano Island, which you should not miss. If you just want to relax, you can immerse yourself in the charming scenery or stroll barefoot on the soft sand. Standing on the hill of Volcano Island and looking far into the distance, you can see several green fairy-like islets nearby as well as the modern Qinzhou Port.
