Transportation Guide

The total highway mileage of Tongliao City reaches 6,939 kilometers, including 1,918 kilometers of asphalt pavement. There are 278 bridges with a total linear length of 6,774 meters. The highway density stands at 11.6 kilometers per 100 square kilometers, and Tongliao has achieved highway access to all townships. Four national highways, namely G111, G303, G304 and G204, run through the city with a combined length of 901 kilometers.
At present, an interconnected crisscross transportation network centered on Horqin District has taken shape. It connects all banners, counties and cities within Tongliao, extends to all towns and sums, and links externally to core cities including Shenyang, Changchun and Jinzhou, as well as coastal ports such as Tianjin, Dalian, Yingkou and Qinhuangdao.
Tongliao boasts an extensive railway network. Six railways — Jitong, Jingtong, Tongrang, Dazheng, Pingqi and Tonghuo — traverse the whole territory, covering more than 1,000 kilometers within the city limits. Tongliao Railway Station ranks among China’s 40 key national railway hubs. Upon completion of the ongoing secondary-class six-yard marshalling project, the station will become one of the country’s 14 major freight marshalling stations.
Tongliao Airport can accommodate medium-sized passenger aircraft. Same-day round-trip flights operate on the Ulanhot–Tongliao–Beijing–Hohhot route.

Scenic Spot Introduction

Perched on Shuangheer Mountain in Agula Sum, Horqin Left Rear Banner, this white pagoda was constructed in the 12th year of the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1734 AD) and is designated as a Major Cultural Relic Protected by Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Built of brick and stone, the pagoda stands 13 meters tall, resembling the White Pagoda in Beihai Park, Beijing. It consists of three main parts: the pagoda foundation, the pagoda base and the pagoda body.
The square foundation is laid with bricks and stones, standing 2 meters high with each side measuring 9.1 meters. Stone steps 2 meters wide are built on its north and south sides: the southern flight has 9 tiers, and the northern flight has 7 tiers.
The multi-faceted pagoda base is built of blue square bricks. Its four sides are decorated with brick carvings of ruyi patterns and auspicious knots, flanked by carved crouching stone lions on both sides.
The pagoda body is divided into three segments: lower cylinder, central dome and upper cylinder. The lower section is a three-tier cylinder. The middle dome, also known as the stupa belly, bears exquisitely carved brick paintings and inscriptions on its four surfaces, featuring smooth and delicate lines. The dome contains seven layers where the ashes of living Buddhas are enshrined.
The pagoda spire is cast iron shaped like a golden vajra engraved with Buddhist motifs. Mounted on the vajra are gilded copper ornaments of the moon, sun and torches. Four small bronze bells hang beneath the canopy of the spire. The central supporting pillar of the entire pagoda body is crafted from sandalwood
