Forty-five kilometers west of Tunliu County seat stands Panxiu Mountain, the highest peak in the county. It was known as Ludu Mountain in ancient times. The main peak rises 1,574 meters above sea level, soaring steeply towards the sky. Looking up from below, visitors will feel the grandeur described in the ancient poem: Peaks tower close to heaven; Withered pines hang upside down on sheer cliffs.

Twisting rock formations stretch for over a hundred li across the mountain range. Climbing up vines and rocky paths to the summit, you cannot help but sigh with emotion: Standing atop the highest peak, all other mountains appear tiny. Overlooking the landscape, the mountain reveals a mysterious, serene and varied charm.

Perched on the mountaintop is the Jade Emperor Temple. Composed of three bays and entirely built with huge stone blocks, it retains the architectural style of the Song Dynasty, and ancient murals are still preserved inside.

On the northern side of Panxiu Mountain in Baquan Township lies a towering cliff dozens of zhang high. A crystal-clear spring gushes from the rock face and plunges down like a spectacular waterfall, just as the line goes: Its torrent dashes down three thousand feet from high. The falling water forms a pool at the foot of the cliff, where lush river grasses grow to a length of more than two zhang and float on the water surface. The green weeds swimming with fish create a delightful and enchanting scene.
