In 1997, Wuhai was served by one major railway trunk line, the Baotou–Lanzhou Railway. There were a total of 18 arterial highways, including National Highway 110 from Dengkou to Mahuanggou and National Highway 109 from Qipanjing to Shizuishan.
The annual passenger transport volume reached 1.9418 million person-times, with freight volume hitting 11.1647 million tons. Specifically, railways carried 311,800 passengers and 2.4147 million tons of cargo; highways transported 1.63 million passengers and 8.75 million tons of goods.
Scenic Introduction
Affected by the Yanshanian and Caledonian orogenic movements, strata spanning more than a dozen geological ages from ancient times to the present are distributed and exposed across Wuhai, forming a host of unique natural landscapes, such as mushroom rocks, stone flower caves, flying peaks and One-Line Sky.
Stretching over 250 meters in total length, One-Line Sky is flanked by towering vertical cliffs that look as if they were hewn by axes and blades. Its narrowest point is merely one meter wide. Looking upward, the sky appears like a flowing blue silk ribbon floating overhead.
