Yuntai Temple stands majestically atop Yuntai Peak. First built during the Tianshun reign of the Ming Dynasty, it ranks among the Eight Ancient Sights of Lingyun. Standing in the temple and gazing far into the distance, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the whole landscape, stirring up the exact feeling expressed in the famous line: "When I stand on the summit, all other mountains shrink into insignificance."

Visitors can climb more than 500 winding stone steps from the mountain foot to reach the peak. A three-bay Buddhist hall named Yuntai Temple was constructed here. The mountain is densely covered with tall trees and shrubs. Birds chirp everywhere amid wild grasses and blooming flowers. Looking north from the front of the temple, you can catch a vague glimpse of the county town. The Sishui River winds like a jade ribbon, flanked by rows of green mountains. Looking south stretches a vast flat land covered with rolling rice waves stretching thousands of hectares. Looking east and west, you will see Xiahong and Shanghong Villages nestled between mountains and rivers. Wisps of cooking smoke curl upward, and the barking of dogs and crowing of chickens can be heard. It presents a peaceful idyllic rural scene.

Note: The major attractions of Yuntai Temple are mountain scenery and sea of mist. Lingyun is frequently shrouded in mist in early spring, which makes it the best season for visiting Yuntai Temple.
