the Former Site of the 21st Division Headquarters of the Seventh Red Army

The former site of the 21st Division Headquarters of the Seventh Red Army is situated in Nongchang, Nongsuo Hamlet, Nongjing Village, Xishan Township, Bama Yao Autonomous County, Hechi City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, 35 kilometers away from the county seat.

Originally the residence of Ya Wenming, an elderly Red Army soldier of the Zhuang ethnic group, the site is a three-bay building with wooden frames and thatched roofs. Reproduced daily necessities including wooden beds, tables, chairs, stools, rice cabinets, stone mills and stone pestles are displayed inside the house. On the walls hang exhibition panels with texts, photos and charts recording the combat history of the 21st Division. Stone steps are built in front of the gate, where a cultural relic protection stele and an introduction stele for the former site stand.

In March 1978, the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region designated and announced this site as a Major Cultural Relic Protected Unit at the autonomous regional level. In July 2001, it was named a Patriotic Education Base of Hechi City by the People's Government of Hechi City.
