Chenfan Park is situated in the northwest of the county seat, bordering Chenfan Road to the east and Fuyu Avenue to the south. Covering an area of 128 mu with a greening rate of 82%, the park was planned, designed and constructed by the County Bureau of Construction. Construction broke ground in November 2006 and has now been basically completed. The core theme of the park is to carry forward the culture of Chenfan.
Chenfan was a native of Pingyu in the Eastern Han Dynasty. He once held the high-ranking official positions of Prefect, Minister of War and Grand Tutor, ranking among the Three Dukes. As an upright official, he was open and aboveboard, noble in integrity, unyielding to power, and achieved remarkable accomplishments. He was known as Chen Zhongju, who dared to stand up against powerful tyrants.
To promote Chenfan’s culture and turn cultural resources into economic strengths, the county Party committee and county government decided to build Chenfan Park right at the site of Chenfan’s tomb.
At the main entrance stands a towering white marble archway flanked by two majestic stone lions. In the center of the park rises the bronze statue of Chenfan facing the wind, alongside exquisite carved jade relief walls. Chenfan’s tomb rests quietly among pine and cypress trees, with the Grand Tutor Stele standing solemnly beside it.
Around the park, plum blossoms, orchids, bamboo and chrysanthemums each form independent gardens. Winding paths and exotic rocks set off each other perfectly. Scattered across the park are rough boulders and miniature sculptures: snails as messengers of peace, owls as guardians of the environment, flocks of chickens symbolizing warm homes, giant pandas representing happy children, mother-and-baby elephants embodying family affection, and a cowboy sculpture recalling joyful childhood. All these ornaments add charm to the scenic spot.
The rippling Lotus Lake and small bridges over flowing water create a warm and pleasant atmosphere. Chenfan Park has become another ideal destination for leisure and recreation in Pingyu County.
