Laoyinggou of Songshan Town
Laoyinggou is located in the south-central part of Songshan Town. It presently has 1,500 hectares of woodland, with a forest coverage rate exceeding 95%.
A clear river runs through the valley for 10 kilometres, with an average daily water discharge of 10,000 cubic metres.
The annual average temperature is 4.1°C, annual precipitation reaches 676.5 millimetres, the annual sunshine duration totals 2,491.2 hours, and the frost-free period lasts roughly 125 days.
Statistics show that the forest area of Laoyinggou is home to more than 520 species of wild plants.
The valley abounds with wild edible greens, wild fruits, rare tree species and valuable medicinal herbs. Wildlife includes wild boars, deer, roe deer, pheasants, mountain hares, wood frogs and cold-water fish.
In spring, green grass carpets the ground and hundreds of flowers bloom everywhere. Visitors can pick wild vegetables and enjoy the fun of harvesting.
In summer, green mountains stretch endlessly and brooks gurgle. People can catch aquatic creatures, climb mountains and camp outdoors to escape the summer heat.
In autumn, the mountains are painted in rich hues. The forests are dyed red, and red leaves glow against the sky, presenting gorgeous autumn scenery.
In winter, snow blankets the whole valley and mountain ridges twist like silver serpents, offering great pleasure for hiking on snow.
Laoyinggou was once one of the key bases where General Yang Jingyu carried out guerrilla warfare.
In 1946, revolutionary elders including Lei Mingyu (Secretary of Panshi County Party Committee), Zhu Guanglie (County Magistrate) and Huo Mingguang (Secretary-General) waged arduous struggles against the Kuomintang reactionaries in Jiangnan Dongde, Bapukang and other areas until the liberation of Panshi in December 1947. Historical sites are still preserved in Laoyinggou to this day.

The valley stretches for more than ten li;
Ancient trees spread thickly to block the sky.
Cold birds chirp here and there;
Orioles flit about and sing.
Wild jujubes drop down into our arms;
Mountain wind cuts sharp to the bone.
Amid clouds veiling the peak top,
Faintly we hear the roar of ancient battles.
After development and construction, Laoyinggou has become one of the Eight New Sights of Panshi, attracting an endless stream of tourists every year
