Dajin Stele Wetland Tourist Area

Dajin Stele Wetland Tourist Area lies on the bank of the Lalin River, 1.5 kilometres east of Shibeiwaizi Village, Desheng Town, Fuyu City. It covers a total area of more than 6,000 hectares, with a planned area of 929.97 hectares, and is rated as a national AAA-level scenic spot.
Although its development started relatively late and only began in the late period of the 11th Five-Year Plan, the tourist area boasts bright prospects. It was listed as a key tourism development project of Songyuan City during the 12th Five-Year Plan period.
Within the tourist area stands the Dajin Deshengtuo Eulogy Stele, a national key cultural relic protection unit with a history of over 800 years and classified as a Grade V tourist attraction. The stele was erected by Emperor Wanyan Yong, the fifth emperor of the Jin Dynasty, in memory of his ancestor Wanyan Aguda, the outstanding Jurchen leader who launched the campaign against the Liao Dynasty and achieved great feats.
The tourist area also features extensive lake waters classified as Grade III tourist attractions, including Emperor Taizu Lake, Deshengtuo Lake, Dragon Eye Lake, Fishing and Hunting Lake, Jurchen Lake, the diverted Lalin River and numerous ponds.
The wetland resources here are exceptionally abundant. Large stretches of wetlands, covering more than 2,000 hectares, have developed on the lowlands around lake dykes and foundations. The lakes have an average water depth of 1.2 metres, serving as natural habitats for a wide variety of birds.
The Emperor Taizu Lake is surrounded by Daweng Mountain, which consists of loess platforms and forms precipices about 40 metres high. Local residents carved a flat path roughly 10 metres wide along the steep hillside. Regarded as a treasured geomantic site by Buddhists and Taoists, this place is home to Sanqing Taoist Temple and Sanshan Buddhist Temple.
Abundant tourist resources scatter around the zone, including ancient tomb clusters, historic ruins and the Yinla Water Conservancy Project.
In 2014, Beijing Peak Tourism Planning & Design Institute Co., Ltd. completed the overall master plan for the tourist area covering 929.97 hectares. A spatial pattern of "one axis supporting six interconnected zones" will gradually take shape, consisting of the Dajin Cultural Landscape Axis, Comprehensive Service Zone, Dajin Cultural Experience Zone, Folk Custom Experience Zone, Religious Culture Perception Zone, Lakeside Entertainment Zone and Ecological Leisure Zone.
With intensified development of tourist resources, tremendous changes have taken place in the scenic area. After years of construction, part of the expansion projects for Sanqing Temple and Sanshan Temple have been finished.
The main gate of Sanqing Temple has been completed, along with the Jade Emperor Pavilion, Dragon King Hall, Dharma Protector Hall, Three Mothers Hall, Guan Yu Temple, Goddess Temple and Town God’s Temple inside the temple compound.
A 400-square-metre Buddhist Recitation Hall in Sanshan Temple has also been built.
The Dajin Stele Tourist Road and Desheng Avenue within the zone were completed and opened to traffic. Desheng Pavilion and the Dajin Exhibition Hall have been constructed, with all exhibitions installed and officially open to visitors.
Greening, landscaping and lighting projects have been launched across the area. The Emperor Taizu Fishing Platform and sightseeing bridge in the Dajin Stele Reserve have been finished.
Boundary facilities for the wetland reserve have been installed: 4 boundary steles (2 for the wetland reserve and 2 for the national wetland park), 36 signboards (30 for the reserve and 6 for the park), and 480 boundary stakes (320 for the reserve and 160 for the park). Landscaping works have been carried out in the wetland park, with ornamental trees such as populus alba, golden weeping willow and lilac planted.
The wetland here has been officially designated as the Jilin Fuyu Floodplain Provincial Wetland Nature Reserve by Jilin Provincial Government. Application for the establishment of the Dajin Stele National Wetland Park is now underway at the national level
