Qianziwen Square

Constructed based on the regional culture of Qian’an County, Qianziwen Square started construction in early 2010 and has now been largely completed. The square covers a total land area of 22,000 square metres with a total investment of 5.4 million yuan. The green space spans 6,000 square metres, and the hardened pavement covers 16,000 square metres.

Facilities inside include a relief map, an inscribed stone, a nine-spout fountain, a giant bronze tripod engraved with the Thousand-Character Classic, nine dragon pillars, two prehistoric animal sculptures, one ornamental piece and a cultural wall. All these designs fully reflect the profound cultural heritage of Qian’an.

To meet local residents’ demands for leisure and recreation, the square also features a national fitness ground and an open area for assemblies and relaxation. There are 30 sets of stone benches, one solid wood pergola, together with 56 landscape lamps including garden lights and spotlights.

The Thousand-Character Classic Tripod stands right in the centre of the square as its centrepiece, showcasing Qian’an’s history and culture to visitors. The whole tripod stands 6.6 metres tall, with its base reaching 3.3 metres. It is hand-forged with the full text of the Thousand-Character Classic arranged in sequence. It is the only tripod of its kind in China engraved with this classic text.

As an image showcase for Qian’an, the square embodies local regional characteristics, beautifies the urban landscape and improves the county’s investment environment, adding a splendid touch to Qian’an’s urban development.

Although the project has not yet been fully finished and officially opened, crowds of local residents come here for recreation every day. The fitness zone is always packed with people doing exercise. Many visitors take photos in front of the relief map, the bronze tripod and prehistoric animal statues. Travellers passing by often stop or get out of their vehicles to stroll around and admire the scenery. This small northeastern city of Qian’an has won a reputation across the whole country. All these achievements embody the efforts of the county Party committee and government to improve people’s livelihoods, bring benefits to the public and share development outcomes in the campaign to strive for excellence.
