Dongluo Rock Leisure Resort

The resort is located on Dongluo Mountain to the northeast of the county seat, with a simple highway connecting the scenic area to the county town open to traffic.

The temple was first founded by the Yuan Dynasty monk Ruhai, who chiseled out a nunnery sheltered under a natural stone cave. During the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty, Wang Cheng rebuilt it into a two-courtyard structure with three bays, and further renovations were carried out in the 1980s. It is home to "Sunrise over Dongluo", one of the Ten Great Ancient Scenic Spots of Zhangpu.

When the morning sun rises, golden rays stretch thousands of miles amid swirling mist, painting the entrance of the stone cave in dazzling rainbow hues to form a spectacular wonder. The mountain top is dotted with fantastic rock formations, as well as Dawn Cave, Sleeping Buddha Cave and multiple natural stone shelters, the largest of which can accommodate a hundred visitors.

An ancient well beside the temple yields sweet, crystal-clear spring water. Behind the temple lie the ruins of Qiyun Fort, alongside characteristically named rock outcrops such as Immortal Pillow Rock and Thunder-Split Rock. Winding stone steps shaded by towering ancient trees circle the temple and lead deep into serene valleys. A robust golden bell lychee tree over 500 years old stands proudly beside the temple.

Dozens of cultural relics and historic sites scatter across the surroundings, including Ming and Qing cliff stone carvings, stone steles, and the pagoda tomb of Monk Ruhai. Lush vegetation blankets the mountain, creating enchanting scenery that makes it a well-loved tourist destination. In recent years, it has grown into a popular spot for county residents to sightsee, relax and work out.

Planned for development across 6,000 mu, the scenic area will feature core projects including a Chinese Surname Culture Grand Garden, an ancient temple pilgrimage zone, leisure resort quarters, sunrise viewing terraces, summer mountain villas, rural pleasure gardens, mountain adventure zones and eco-sightseeing areas, with a total projected investment of 200 million RMB
