Thousand-Li Grape Corridor
The Thousand-Li Grape Corridor is located in Baghchi Town, Hotan County, 12 kilometers away from the seat of Hotan County Government. Like winding green giant dragons weaving through villages across Hotan County, this famous scenic spot effectively improves the microclimate of farmland. It has become a landmark sight of the Gobi Oasis and a highlight of eco-tourism.
Best Travel Time
Situated in Hotan, Xinjiang, the Thousand-Li Grape Corridor features distinct seasonal characteristics: four well-defined seasons, scorching summers, moderately cold winters, rapidly yet erratically rising temperatures in spring accompanied by frequent late spring frosts and sandstorms, and quick temperature drops in autumn. The region sees scarce annual rainfall, abundant sunshine, ample thermal energy, a long frost-free period and a large temperature difference between day and night, making winter a suitable travel season here.
History and Culture
To transform the harsh ecological environment, Hotan County launched large-scale construction of grape corridors starting in the 1960s, eventually forming the interconnected, densely shaded Thousand-Li Grape Corridor that stretches across every village today. At present, Hotan County has built approximately 1,500 kilometers of grape trellises, a remarkable miracle in the history of grape cultivation.
