Mudanjiang (Monument to the Eight Heroines) — Suifenhe City — National Gate Park — Dongning Fortress Complex
Depart from Mudanjiang and head to the picturesque Riverside Park. View the monumental sculpture of the Eight Heroines Who Drowned Themselves in the River, and listen to the guide narrate the touching heroic stories of anti-Japanese martyrs.
Continue to Suifenhe City, a century-old commercial hub, enjoying the wilderness and forest landscapes of Northeast China along the way.
Visit Suifenhe Railway Station, a century-old port station built in 1903, featuring a Russian-style waiting hall and a modern international joint inspection hall.
Tour the local museum that showcases Suifenhe’s long history and abundant natural resources. Its exhibitions are divided into four sections: history, nature, art and development achievements.
Stop by the municipal government building to overlook the panoramic view of Suifenhe’s old town and Beishan Development Zone, and take souvenir photos.
Proceed to the national gate tourist zone of the Class I highway port. Here you can admire the magnificent national gate, passenger and cargo joint inspection halls, boundary stones, and the border firebreak line. On the Russian side, you will see log cabins and prefabricated houses flying the Russian national flag. Multiple souvenir shops are available within the scenic area.
Lunch: Buffet at Huayi Snack Restaurant.
After lunch, travel to Dongning, the earliest place in China to greet the sunrise.
Visit the China-Russia Mutual Trade Zone on the Sino-Russian border for sightseeing and shopping.
Then tour Dongning Port, China’s easternmost Class I land port.
Next, explore the Dongning Fortress Complex, the final battlefield where World War II came to an end. Visit the weapon park, museum, and underground facilities inside the Xunshan Fortress.
Finally, return to Mudanjiang City.
