Forest, Ecology & Sports Tour (4-Day Western Mudanjiang Itinerary)

Depart from Mudanjiang and head to Yang Zirong Martyrs Cemetery in Hailin City. Pay homage to the statue of Martyr Yang Zirong, visit the Memorial Hall of Martyr Yang Zirong and the Northeast Bandit Suppression Campaign. Listen to the narrator recount Yang Zirong’s heroic deeds and illustrate the whole bandit suppression operation in the Weihushan area with a topographic sand table. Pay respects to the tombs of Yang Zirong and other revolutionary martyrs.

Next, proceed to the Russian Style Garden. Experience the fun of picking and tasting wild mountain vegetables unique to Northeast China. Tour the botanical garden, where professionals will teach visitors to identify wild edible herbs. Take a cable car up the mountain for sightseeing, personally pick various wild mountain vegetables, and try the thrilling aerial zip line.

Lunch: Wild mountain vegetable feast and farmhouse specialties.

In the afternoon, visit Weihushan Town, the largest outdoor filming base in Northeast China built based on the novel Tracks in the Snowy Forest and the layout of Linhai Town. Explore story-related scenic spots including the ancient city gate of Linhai Mountain Town, Linhai Main Street, Jiapigou Village, Laodao Temple and Weihu Hall, while the guide narrates the legendary tales that unfolded at each site.

Then travel to the Siberian Tiger Park, the country’s largest breeding and conservation center for Siberian tigers. Visit tiger enclosures and viewing platforms, ride a special sightseeing vehicle into the free-range zone to watch wild tigers roaming the woods, take photos with tiger cubs at the young tiger viewing area, learn about Siberian tigers at the small animal zoo and popular science museum, and purchase souvenirs before returning to Mudanjiang City for overnight accommodation.

After breakfast, set off for Dahailin Forestry Bureau. En route, you may choose to visit scenic sites such as Mandou City, Sarhu Ancient City, Ningguta General’s Yamen, General Review Platform and the Imperial Bestowed Chastity Stele of the Bu-Fu Clan, to experience the past prosperity and civilization of Hailin.

Arrive at the Korean Pine Primeval Forest in Taipinggou Scenic Area. Here, the roaring pines form a grand, lush ancient woodland, an ideal destination for scientific research, summer retreats, stream trekking exploration, camping, outdoor picnics, wildlife observation and forest bathing. Walk uphill along the "Soaring Sky" sightseeing trail to view iconic ancient tree landmarks: Three Sworn Brothers Trees, Magpie Nest Tower, the historic site of timber donated to the Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao, King Poplar, and Lover Trees. On the downhill path, you will pass the Fog Bridge, Misty Stream, Streamside Pavilion and cozy wooden cabins.

Lunch: Visitors may prepare packed picnics in advance.

Continue the tour along the "Wild Boar Den" sightseeing trail to appreciate exotic oddly-shaped rocks and ancient trees, including Parrot Poplar, Like-Minded Companions, Down-to-Earth Tree, Lightning-Struck Log, Sacrificial Altar, Coiled Dragon Pine, Wild Boar Den and Turtle Ascent. Marvel at the grandeur of nature, climb Wangyun Peak to overlook the Mother and Son Peaks, and seek primitive hunting murals inside Lingxian Cave, featuring depictions of sika deer and ancient hunters.

Climb the 999-step stone staircase to visit Yunshan Temple, an ancient mountain temple deep in the forest. Overnight at Dahailin Forestry Bureau (wild camping is also available as an alternative).

After breakfast, climb Pingdingshan Mountain, the second highest peak in Heilongjiang Province with an altitude of 1,672 meters. The mountain boasts magnificent terrain and a flat plateau summit. Admire sprawling creeping pine shrubs atop the mountain and fully enjoy the delight of alpine climbing.

Rest after lunch, then head to Lihua Village. Dinner and overnight accommodation at Lihua Village.

After breakfast, tour the picturesque Lihua Village. Enjoy forest bathing, leisurely angling and entertainment at Yangming Lake, and visit the nursery to observe and identify various trees: Larch, Korean Pine, Korean Spruce, Manchurian Ash, Schisandra chinensis, as well as foreign varieties including Swiss Stone Pine, Norway Spruce and European Larch.

Lunch at Lihua Village.

In the afternoon, experience Hailang River Rafting, reputed as "No.1 Rafting in Heilongjiang". Feel the thrills of boating and whitewater surfing on the river.

Finally, take the coach back to Mudanjiang City.
