The Memorial Park for the Westward March of the Red Army, situated in the south Tongxin County of mid-Ningxia and covering 323 mu (15 mu=1 hectare), is one of the 100 national classic revolutionary sites sponsored by the Chinese government. It is built in October 2006 to commemorate the victory of the Red Army & the 70th anniversary of the founding of Yuhai autonomous county, Shaan-Gan-Ning Province.
Major architectures inside the park include the Memorial Museum for the Westward March of the Red Army, whose title was inscribed by Liu Huaqing, former Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China; world classic Red Star Over China and a large sculpture of its classical picture Red Army Trumpeter; a over 7-meter and 84-ton grotesque rock on which “After long march through Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia, the three corps of the Red Army joined forces in Tongxin.” by General Xiao Ke and “With one heart and one mind, we construct Tongxin with joint efforts” by internationalist fighter George Hatem (Chinses name: Ma Haide) are inscribed; and the 70-stone stair-tall Tongxin Great Mosque boasting over 600 years of history and glorious revolutionary tradition.

Tongxin Memorial Park for the Westward March of the Red Army is a national patriotism education base for. It collects 225 revolutionary relics, two of which are copies of national level-1 cultural relics. This park, based on the inauguration ceremony’s former site (Tongxin Great Mosque) of the government of Yuhai autonomous county, Shaan-Gan-Ning Province, combines ecological leisure tourism and revolutionary tradition education. It reproduces scenes where general headquarter of the westward Red Army established Yuwangbu and created a precedent for regional autonomy of ethnic minorities, the Red Army serve the people wholeheartedly, three corps of the Red Army joined forces in Tongxin, and working and living conditions of famous American reporter Edgar Snow and outstanding international fighter George Hatem in Tongxin.
