North Wudang Ecotourism Area, covering a total area of 68.8 square kilometers, is situated on the diluvial fan of the east pediment of Helan Mountain which is 3 kilometers away from the northwest of Dawukou District. It was rated as National 3A-Class Scenic Spot in December, 2009. North Wudang Ecotourism Area, with unique natural environment and deep culture heritage, is a comprehensive scenic spot integrating worship and praying, geological scientific study, leisure and vacation, mountain sports, military exploration, tourism and sight-seeing as a whole. There are different cultures, including the culture of longevity and happiness featured by Wudang Temple, the ecological culture featured by desert afforesting, geological culture featured by geological wonders and ancient fossils, military culture featured by beacon towers on the ancient Great Wall and Cangbingdong Scenic Spot and primitive culture of Helan Mountain featured by Heishimao rock painting named “Sanyangkaitai”, etc.. The mysterious and colorful North Wudang Ecotourism Area is well-known both home and abroad for its unique tourism image and attracts tourists from everywhere. 
North Wudang Ecotourism Area is divided into five parts including the North Wudang Shoufo Temple, the Forest Park, Jiucaigou Military Experience Region, Helan Mountain Geological Park (Guidegou) and Helan Mountain Ecological Museum.
North Wudang Shoufo Temple
North Wudang Shoufo Temple is at the core of North Wudang Ecotourism Area, it’s a ancient temple with thousand years of history well-known in Ningxia, Inner Mongolia and its surrounding areas, which contains Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. The temple is honored as “Minglan of Western Xia with forests and ancient temples” in history. The North Wudang Shoufo Temple covers a total area of 12,000 square meters and the area of the temple is 4, 300 square meters. The temple was built at the foot of Helan Mountain from north to south. The solemn and beautiful quadrangle courtyard with overall layout is constructed in an orderly manner.
Dawukou Forest Park
Dawukou Forest Park and Xishan protection forest are artificial ecological forests covering an area of over 20,000 mu built by the people of Shizuishan City in the gobi desert through many years greening efforts, which presented the special styles and features of the ecological construction of northwest desert zone.

Guidegou
Guidegou Geological Park is a valley rich in geological relics in Helan Maintains. There are four scenic spots and one spring in Guidegou, i.e. beacon towers of the Great Wall, ancient rock paintings reserve, Zuandonggou natural scenic spot, Shayao idyllic scenic spot and Jijitan mountain spring. These spots and the spring form a beautiful landscape, a great wonder of Helan Mountains. Such eological phenomena as bare land, structure, landscape and pathological fossils recorded the history of crustal movement, sedimentary formation and environmental changes of Helan Mountains.     
Jiucaigou Military Experience Spot

Jiucaigou spot is a 10-kilometer long primitive ravine within Helan Mountains. Surrounded by mountains, it is cool, tranquil and beautiful with abundant water and lush grass, blooming flowers and beautiful enough to feast the eyes. Inside the ravine, crystal brooks flow zigzagging and babbling and its water is natural mineral water which is cool and pleasant. Beacon towers of Great Wall from Qin and Han to Ming dynasty and modern air defense caves are intensely scattered, which reappears former military life and add to the mystery and charm of Jiucaigou and thus forming new attraction to people with curiosity, making it a perfect place for military experience and mountain sports.
Helan Mountains Ecological Museum
Helan Mountains Ecological Museum is located in the Xiaoquzigou of Helan Mountains. There is an ancient tree fossil with over 200 million years old, which is above the ground for about 18 meter tall, with its appearance having been preserved quite well. It is the biggest old tree fossil with the highest carbonization degree so far discovered in China and also the biggest, longest and best preserved old tree fossil in Ningxia with high research and ornamental values. By direct learning of remains and relics, you can better understand the ecological culture and civilization of Helan Mountains.
