Baima Temple was established in AD 68 under the patronage of Emperor Ming in the Eastern Han capital Luoyang, located some 12 kilometres east of Luoyang in Henan Province. It is the first and oldest Buddhist temple in China. The remains of the temple buildings date back to Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.
