It is located in northeast of Changchun City and is the site of the palace that Aisin Gioro Puyi, the last emperor of the Qing Dynastry, took office to be a puppet emperor for Manchukuo. The palace covers an area of 137,000 square meters. The west side includes Lifeguard Barrack and Race Course, the central part is the main body of the palace, and the east side is a dedicated train way for the “emperor”. The main part is divided into east and west courts. The west court is divided into internal court and external court by Zhonghe Gate. The north side of Zhonghe Gate is the external court, where Aisin Gioro Puyi deals with political matters, ceremonies are held, and business offices are located. The main buildings are Xingyun Gate, Gongnei Mansion, Qinmin Building, Huaiyuan Building, and Jiale Hall. The south side of Zhonghe Gate is the internal court that is a daily life area for Aisin Gioro Puyi and his families. The main buildings of the internal court include the imperial burial place Jixi Building, Chinese and Western diet rooms, tea house, West Garden, Zhixiu Veranda, and Changchun Veranda. The main buildings in the east side include “Tongde Palace” built by Japanese for Aisin Gioro Puyi and the ancillary buildings include East Garden, Jianguo Temple, air-raid shelter, swimming pool, and Shuhua Building (Painting and Calligraphy Building).
