Longping Rice-themed Museum, the first of its kind in the world, is expected to open to the public for free on May 19, 2016.
Located at the east bank of Liuyang River and at encircled area of East Renmin Road, Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Expressway and Binhe Road, the museum is a core scenic spot along the Liuyang River Scenic Belt. The building complex is composed of six rice-shaped structures. The six grains of full and golden rice were patterned into ears of rice, adding more charms to Liuyang River.
China's father of hybrid rice Yuan Longping introduced that the museum consists of three exhibition halls featuring history and culture of rice, science and technology of rice as well as Yuan Longping’s story with his hybrid rice.
