Lingguang Pagoda

Lingguang Pagoda stands on the flat terrace at the southern end of Tashan Mountain, northwest of Changbai County Seat, with an elevation of 894 metres.
It is a classic square ancient brick pagoda of multi-eaves pavilion style. Facing south with an azimuth of 200 degrees, the pagoda is 12.64 metres high with five storeys.
The four sides beneath the eaves of the ground floor are inlaid with decorated tiles and large inscribed bricks. From the front face clockwise, the Chinese characters read: Wang, Li, Guo, Tu.
Square mullioned windows can be found on the second to fifth floors. Wind bells hang from every eave corner. When the wind blows, the tinkling sound lingers day and night, serving as a perpetual alarm reminding people of the duty to guard the frontier.
Built during the Bohai Kingdom of the Tang Dynasty (698–926 AD), Lingguang Pagoda is the only surviving architectural relic of the local Bohai regime in Northeast China. It has a history of more than 1,300 years.
The pagoda embodies the exquisite sculptural art of the Bohai era and boasts great ornamental and cultural heritage value.
In 1988, Lingguang Pagoda was designated as a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level.
