Yangshan Temple (Present Name: Mituo Temple) Scenic Area
The scenic area sits on Yang Mountain, 68 meters above sea level, on the north side of Yulong Road in Gupi Town, Suining County. It adjoins Ancient Han Street to the east, Gupi Middle School to the west and Half Mountain to the north, covering a land area of 60 mu.
First built in the late Eastern Han Dynasty (193 AD), the temple has weathered nearly two thousand years of vicissitudes. It suffered destruction and reconstruction several times, with monks and believers passing down Buddhist teachings from generation to generation, keeping the sacred flame of Buddhism enduring. A temple fair is held on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month every year, drawing up to 100,000 worshippers and merchants from the north and south each day. With increasingly flourishing incense, it has become a renowned ancient Buddhist temple at the border of Jiangsu and Shandong Provinces. It is a national AA-level scenic spot.
