Jinshahe Square is situated at the southeast corner of the intersection of Xiaodong Street and Xingfa Road, marking the boundary between the old town and the new urban district. As a key scenic node, it is part of the Phase I Comprehensive Harnessing Project of the Jinsha River Basin.
The square covers a total land area of 39,000 square metres, including a lake area of 18,700 square metres. The construction was carried out in two phases. Phase I occupies 25,000 square metres, with 4,300 square metres of paved ground mainly laid with granite. Antiseptic wood is used for the viewing platforms and wharves. The green space spans 2,000 square metres, planted with native arbors including dry willow, Beijing peach, and Chinese pagoda tree, as well as shrubs such as privet, red-barked dogwood and sorbaria sorbifolia. Phase II covers the remaining 14,000 square metres.
Construction started in August 2011, synchronised with the Phase I river regulation project. Nestled on the north bank of the Jinsha River and bordering the lake, the square boasts pleasant natural scenery.
The square is divided into two functional zones. The waterfront zone consists of viewing platforms, scenic wharves and two pavilions. The fitness and leisure zone includes a circular plaza and winding pedestrian paths. More than ten varieties of plants are cultivated here. Amid the concrete urban landscape, the square creates a waterfront public space for local residents in Faku. It forms a slow-traffic landscape system and a waterside fitness trail in the city centre, offering citizens a green corridor for relaxation, physical exercise and outdoor recreation.
Four cage football pitches are located on the eastern side of Jinshahe Square. Construction began in August 2014 and was completed and put into service in October the same year, with a total investment of 3 million yuan.
The site occupies 5,500 square metres, including three 5-a-side enclosed football pitches measuring 42m × 24m, plus one training field of 30m × 20m. All four pitches are covered with artificial turf and equipped with floodlights.
This project fills the gap of enclosed football facilities in the county. It provides a venue for football fans in Faku to compete and communicate, laying a solid foundation for building Faku into a "Hometown of Football".
