Qiantang Tidal Bore in China is among the world’s three major tidal bores. Yan Guan Town in Haining City, Zhejiang Province (浙江省海宁盐官镇) is the best resort for watching the tidal bore. Watching Qiantang Tidal Bore began in the last reign of Han Dynasty and became prevalent in Tang and Song Dynasties, going through over 2000 years till now, which has been a local custom. The annually Aug.18 on the lunar calendar witnesses the largest Qiantang Bore. In addition to the three days of Qiantang tidal bore festival from the lunar Aug.17 to Aug.19, every beginning and middle of a month of the lunar calendar have spring tide to watch.
