Zhao Yun, courtesy name Zilong, was a native of Zhending, Changshan (present-day Zhengding). He was a distinguished general of the Three Kingdoms period and known in history as an undefeated warrior.
To promote traditional culture and recreate the heroic bearing of Zhao Zilong, Zhengding Tourism Bureau rebuilt the Zhao Yun Temple on the original site dating back to the Daoguang reign. The temple officially opened to visitors on April 13, 1997.
Magnificent in style, the newly built temple covers an area of 12 mu with a total floor space of 1,500 square meters. Constructed in the architectural style of the Ming and Qing dynasties, it consists of two courtyards. Its major buildings include the main gate, Hall of Four Righteous Heroes, Hall of Five Tiger Generals, Hall of Monarch and Ministers, and Hall of Lord Shunping. While preserving and enriching the historical features of the original temple, it blends harmoniously with nearby scenic spots such as Longxing Temple and the Grand View Mansion. The opening of Zhao Yun Temple offers a place for tourists at home and abroad, as well as overseas descendants of the Zhao clan, to pay homage and enjoy sightseeing.
