Creeping Fig Jelly
A traditional cooling drink unique to the Wuyi Mountain area. Wild creeping fig fruits are harvested, their seeds stripped out and sun-dried thoroughly before being processed into a semi-solid refreshing jelly. Sweetened with honey or cane sugar, it clears internal heat, relieves summer heat, refreshes the mind and boosts physical vitality.
Bitter Castanopsis Cake
A distinctive Wuyi Mountain snack. Kernels of wild bitter and sweet chinquapins (Fagaceae plants) from the mountains are ground into slurry, heated and solidified into soft cakes, then simmered with seasonings. It delivers a smooth, palatable taste with a subtle hint of bitterness, offering a one-of-a-kind flavor.
Wuyi Liuxiang Rice Wine
A famous local specialty of Wuyi Mountain. Brewed from premium glutinous rice and pure sweet mountain spring water, the wine is aged for more than two years. Its hue gradually shifts from pale yellow to tea red, a natural sweet vintage wine colored by inherent sugar content. The liquor is crystal clear with a rich mellow aroma and a smooth, pleasant lingering finish.
Nutritionally, Wuyi Liuxiang Rice Wine contains glucose, fructose, sixteen amino acids essential to the human body (including glutamic acid, aspartic acid, histidine and alanine), seven vitamins (vitamin B5, vitamin E, vitamin C, etc.), plus mineral elements such as potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, zinc and iron. Potherb Mustard
A classic vegetarian local dish from Wuyi Mountain. It boasts a fresh, delicate flavor that stimulates the appetite, invigorates the spleen and aids digestion. Rich in various amino acids and vitamins, it is hailed as a "healthy vegetable".
Cudweed Dumplings
Tender fresh cudweed herb and rice batter are steamed separately, then fully blended together. The green dough is wrapped with fillings of shiitake mushrooms, shredded pork, bamboo shoot strips and pickled vegetables to form large dumplings.
This seasonal treat is eaten during the Qingming Festival in the Wuyi Mountain region, commonly known as Qingming Cakes, carrying an authentic rustic countryside flavor.
