Location
Fujian Province faces Taiwan Province across the Taiwan Straits. It is situated 115'50"-120'47" east longitude and 23'30"-28'19" north latitude with an area of more than 120,000 square kilometers. Fujian has a zigzag coastline of 2,120 kilometers dotted with 1,202 offshore islands, with a fishing area of 136,000 square kilometers.
Survey
Fujian has well-developed agriculture, forestry and fishery. Its mild, humid, subtropical and marine climate is especially conducive to crop production. Sugarcane, peanuts, tea, tobacco, rubber, jute and bluish dogbane are Fujian's major cash crops. Orange, longan, lichi, pineapple, loquat and banana are the six famous fruits of Fujian. Its industries of building materials, forest, light industry, electronics, chemical, machinery, and papermaking occupy important places in the country.
Transport
The Province boasts a complete and interlinking network of sea, land and air transport. By the end of 2006, the mileage open to traffic in the province reached 58,286 kilometers. The total mileage of the railway in Fujian reached 1613.1 kilometers. The railway network features seven outbound lines linking the Province to the national railway system. The province has two center international airports, namely, Gaoqi Airport of Xiamen and Changle Airport of Fuzhou, and four airports for regional airlines of Jinjiang, Wuyishan and Liancheng and Sanming, and has opened up more than 200 domestic and international airlines.
Sightseeing
Fujian is blessed with a rich history, famous historical sites and beautiful natural landscapes. Mount Wuyi (Wu Yi Shan) may enlighten you with its wonderland tour. Its beautiful mountains, vigorous rocks and limpid waters are legendary. Gulangyu Island, also called "the Garden on the Sea" by people in Xiamen, is a world of sea breezes, sunshine and exotic architecture with a Mediterranean flavor. Nanputuo Temple, among the four well-known Buddhist shrines in the nation, has the longest and most prestigious history.
