Located in the southwest of Bengbu, the Zhanggong Mountain Scenic Area spans a total area of 110.6 hectares, with Zhanggongshan Park as its core zone covering 56.6 hectares. It is the city’s largest park and a national AAAA-level attraction. Construction began in 1973, and it officially opened to visitors in 1983.
The park consists of Zhanggong Mountain and Huapi Lake (renamed Zhanggong Lake), with a peninsula extending into the lake. Mountains and waters set off each other, creating stunning views. Weeping willows line the winding lakeshore; pine and cypress trees cover the mountain slopes, along with winding secluded paths. The Wanghuai Pagoda stands atop the mountain peak.
The eastern section houses a yacht dock, a mid-mountain teahouse, an aquatic restaurant and covered waterside corridors. There is also a garden-within-a-garden built in Suzhou classical garden style, containing the Huaihe Stele Forest and restaurants. The western part features a zoo, and a children’s playground sits to the west of the north gate, decorated with sculptures such as Playing Children, Ewe and Lamb and Spring Rain.
