Nenjiang Gaofeng Forest Park
The park sits at the junction of the Greater Khingan Range and the Songnen Plain, on undulating low hills with an altitude of 305 metres. Its unique geographical environment nurtures distinctive natural scenery and forest vegetation. The park is filled with towering ancient trees, including century-old red spruce, Scotch pine and rare spherical variant spruce. A national-level bird banding station is built within the park.
Constructed based on the natural forest scenery of Gaofeng Forest Farm with man-made auxiliary facilities, the park is split into five scenic zones:
Blue Sea Swimming Dragon Zone (western part): Standing on the viewing tower here, visitors can see an S-shaped railway winding between two mountains in the park, resembling a swimming dragon.
Pine Shade Nostalgia Zone (northeastern part): Home to ruins of an ancient naval camp and the Cui Family Tomb, surrounded by ornamental trees such as red spruce, white larch, dahurian larch, Scotch pine and rare spherical spruce, with a forest bathing ground available.
Recreation Zone (eastern part): Equipped with an ice rink, open-air dance hall and children’s amusement park.
Zoo (central part): Featuring enclosures for northern wild animals and birds as well as the Wangquan Tower.
Resort Zone (southern part): Furnished with wooden villas, an artificial lake, lake island, fishing platforms and suspension bridges.
Location: 9 kilometres south of downtown Nenjiang County
Ancient Aihui City
Aihui is the signing site of the Treaty of Aigun between China and Russia.
The earliest Aihui City was built during the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty. To counter remnant forces of the Yuan Dynasty, Emperor Yongle constructed Aihui City downstream of the confluence of the Jingqili River and the Heilongjiang River on the left bank, near present-day Vysokoye Village in Russia.
Ticket Information: Free entry to wander the ancient town; the local history museum inside charges ¥30 per visitor.
