Lalikun National Wetland Park
"Lalikun" is a Uyghur word meaning "Lake of Tulips". Situated in Yawa Township and Zawa Township of Moyu County, around 40 kilometers from the county seat, the wetland lies in the ecotone between oasis and desert along the lower reaches of the old course of the Kalakash River.
Approved as a national wetland park by the State Forestry Administration in 2012, it is the only national-level wetland park in Hotan Prefecture. Covering about 160,000 mu, its water surface spans roughly 13,000 mu, with water mainly supplied by the Kalakash River.
Endowed with abundant landscape resources and a wide variety of wild flora and fauna, the park integrates reservoir wetlands, reed marshes and desert scenery. In particular, the seamless connection between desert vistas and vast reed marshes creates a striking contrast of golden sand against clear blue water and lush plants, rendering Lalikun Wetland an exceptionally unique and precious scenic spot.
The sunrise, sunset, morning glow and evening clouds over the wetland are extraordinarily poetic, making it an ideal haven for photography enthusiasts. In summer and autumn, visitors can go angling and boating by the lake, and savor distinctive local delicacies in the tranquil waterside surroundings, perfect for food lovers to taste wild specialties.
