Guanyin Mountain National Forest Park
Located in Zhangmutou Town, it is Dongguan’s first national forest park approved by the State Forestry Administration. Covering a total area of 18 square kilometres with a forest coverage rate exceeding 99%, it is an integrated scenic area combining ecological sightseeing, fitness and leisure, and religious cultural tourism, hailed as “A Sacred Land of the Southern Sky, A Secret Realm of Hundred Yue Regions”.
Huangqi Mountain Park
At the intersection of Dongguan Avenue and Middle Dongcheng Road, the park spans 243 hectares. Its attractions include the iconic lantern atop Huangqi Mountain, the ancient Huangqi Temple, as well as newly built Qifeng Park Square, entrance archway and Qifeng Lake. Standing 189 metres above sea level, Huangqi Mountain resembles an unfurled banner and acts as the symbol of Dongguan. The folk sight “A lantern hanging atop Huangqi Ridge” ranks first among the Eight Great Scenic Views of Dongguan.
Shilong Golden Sand Bay: Moonlight on Golden Shores
The beautiful Dongjiang River flows through Shilong Golden Sand Bay, forming a natural landscape of one river with three docks. The wide, surging waterway is an ideal venue for dragon boat races. At night, dazzling lights line both banks, creating an enchanting nocturnal scene. Moonlight, lamplight and shimmering river waves interweave, blending dynamic and tranquil beauty with unique charm.
Changan Lotus Mountain Scenic Area: Heron Watching at Lotus Peaks
Stretching more than ten kilometres, Lotus Mountain boasts a main peak at an altitude of 513 metres with three juxtaposed peaks shaped like half-bloomed lotus flowers. Covered in lush forests, the mountain features over forty scenic spots. Its Heron Paradise shelters tens of thousands of herons, forming Guangdong’s largest heron colony. At dusk, flocks of herons take flight, merging harmoniously with mountain hues, river waters, sky and grass for an unparalleled view.
Huying Country Park: Layered Green Hills of Huying
Huying Country Park adjoins Royal View Bay Hotel and Peakview Golf Course. The area boasts picturesque lakes and mountain scenery wrapped in rich greenery.
Its name “Layered Green Hills” symbolizes intertwined mountains and waters, endless overlapping scenic layers brimming with lush, vibrant vegetation.
Humen Bridge: Rainbow Spanning an Ancient Fortress
Humen Bridge is Guangdong’s largest bridge to date. This site once witnessed fierce battles of the First Opium War. During the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty, Lin Zexu led local soldiers and civilians to string massive iron chains across the river, forming an impenetrable iron barrier to fend off invading troops. Today, the smoke of war has faded away, revealing clear skies and calm waters; a natural moat has turned into a thoroughfare. Cruising along the Pearl River, visitors see the grand bridge arching across the sky like a giant rainbow. Strolling along the bridge deck, one overlooks a spectacular panorama dotted with sailing vessels.
Civic Center Square: A Treasury of Urban Splendour
Situated in the new central business district, the square stretches approximately 1,400 metres from north to south and 250 metres from east to west. It houses a cluster of newly built high-standard cultural facilities including Magnolia Grand Theatre, Dongguan Exhibition Hall and the city library. Integrating functional, leisure, entertainment and appreciation spaces, it brims with contemporary vitality, modern grandeur and profound cultural essence.
Dongguan Avenue: Morning Radiance on the Grand Boulevard
Stretching 9.94 kilometres with a maximum width of 189 metres, Dongguan Avenue runs north from the gate of Qifeng Mountain to the Shigu Expressway entrance in the south, serving as the gateway from the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway into downtown Dongguan. Driving along the avenue offers the delightful sensation of “travelling through a moving scroll painting unfolding ahead”.
