Wangshou Mountain – Nine Peaks and Eighteen Scenic Wonders
(Photo credit: Yuan Xi Guang Yun)
Highlights
Known for its "Nine Peaks and Eighteen Scenic Wonders", Wangshou Mountain rises amid mountain ranges on the Fujian-Guangdong border at an altitude of over 1,000 metres. Its eastern side borders Hongshan Township of Yongding County in western Fujian, while its western side neighbours Songyuan and Taoyao Towns in Meixian District, Meizhou. The surging Ting River flows along its eastern foothills before merging into the Han River en route to the South China Sea. Since ancient times, locals say that on clear days standing atop the summit, one can "see the Octagonal Tower in Tingzhou upstream and the Xiangzi Bridge in Chaozhou downstream", capturing hundreds of square kilometres of cross-border scenery of Fujian and Guangdong.
