Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu Festival) — Unique Coastal "Dragon Water Bath" Custom

Time: Lunar May 5 (late May / early June)
  • Local exclusive tradition: Dragon Water Bath — Locals rush into the sea at noon to bathe, believing seawater washes away bad luck and brings year-round health. Dadonghai and Coconut Dream Corridor are the liveliest spots.
  • Key activities:
    • Exciting dragon boat races along Sanya River.
    • DIY zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), wormwood sachet handcraft workshops in scenic spots.
    • Herbal sea-bath rituals and coastal folk performances at Tianya Haijiao & Luhuitou.
